Acoustic robot sleeves

2019 Design Digital Fabrication Zurich

The knitted sleeves are custom made for two Staubli robots used in the Data Driven Acoustic Design research project conducted at ETH Zurich. The robots are used to perform a series of impulse response measurements for complex geometries. The sleeves were designed to cover the reflective metal surface of the robots such that it does not interact with the measurements. The sleeves feature a 3D pattern that absorbs sound and they are form-fitted to the robots such that their movement is never hampered.
